Dr. Temperance Johnson, Phd LP, LSSP, AC-EMDR

Dr. Johnson is a Licensed Psychologist and also maintains her licenses as an LSSP (Licensed Specialist in School Psychology). She holds a doctoral degree in Psychology from Walden University. She worked as a Clinical Psychologist at the University of Texas at El Paso, providing therapy and served as their Assessment Supervisor for UTEP’s APA-Accredited Doctoral Internship Consortium (EPPIC). Dr. Johnson was an Adjunct Professor at UTEP teaching the Psychological Assessment course. She is the Owner of WellMind, PLLC, and is employed full time by the US Department of Defense.

Dr. Johnson is often sought after for her autism evaluations and trauma treatment. She focuses her professional development on PTSD, dissociative disorders, and attachment issues. She advocates a practice of mindfulness meditation and is trained in clinical hypnosis.  Dr. Johnson is Certified in EMDR (eye-movement desensitization reprocessing) by the EMDRIA Board and is an Approved Consultant, training others in EMDR therapy.

In addition to her counseling and assessment experience, Dr. Johnson is currently working towards board certification in Neurofeedback, an evidenced-based approach using biofeedback to the brain to reduce anxiety, chronic pain, migraines, depression, and aid in the treatment of trauma.

Kathy Giovas is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in private practice and is bilingual in both English and Spanish. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from UTEP. She has over fifteen years of experience and knowledge in providing direct care to individuals in the areas of traumatic experiences. She provides psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families. She is fully trained and certified in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). She has five years experience as a Medical Social Worker serving various populations, including geriatric patients suffering from chronic illness, children 0-18 years, and adults. Mrs. Giovas currently works as a licensed therapist for the US Department of Veterans Affairs and as an Adjunct Professor in the Social Work Department of UTEP. 

Her approach is direct yet compassionate. Mrs. Giovas enjoys couples counseling and family therapy. She uses the Gottman Method of Relationship Therapy along with other modalities to fit the couple’s needs. Additionally, Kathy is completing her certification in DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and additional training as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP-II).

Bambi Depew is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Dependency Counselor. She specializes in the treatment of mood disorders, trauma, substance use, and dual diagnoses. Bambi is trained and certified in EMDR therapy. She is bilingual in Spanish and English and uses an eclectic approach depending on her patient’s needs and interests. 

Bambi also works with the Department of Defense helping soldiers in their recovery from substance use and trauma. Her experience and knowledge is reputable in the community as she serves as a supervisor for other clinical social workers. 

Whether you are suffering from a recent traumatic event, needing coping skills, having difficulty with substance use, experience depressed mood and/or anxiety, or suffer from a dissociative disorder; Bambi is fully committed to assisting you in your growth and recovery. 

catherine baeza, lcsw
licensed clinical social worker

Catherine Baeza is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in both Texas and New Mexico. Catherine earned her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She has experience working in a variety of settings both in-patient and out-patient. She worked as a children’s outpatient and treatment foster care therapist at a community agency in New Mexico for the past three and a half years. She has a passion for working with children, adolescents, and complex family systems to improve behaviors and overall family functioning. 

Ms. Baeza is bilingual in Spanish and English and has worked with children and adolescents who have experienced trauma, struggle with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, anxiety, low self-esteem/body image issues, difficulty with managing parents’ divorce, and depression. She utilizes solution focused techniques to reduce behavioral outbursts, including reducing self-harming and suicidal ideations. She enjoys using individual sessions as a safe place for clients to share and grow, and family sessions to enhance communication between family members. She also utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy to reframe current negative mindsets and behaviors to more positive outcomes.  Catherine is dedicated to working towards progress on her clients’ identified goals at their own pace and comfort level.

Dulce Senclair is a Registered Nurse with eleven years of experience. She is currently pursuing her doctorate degree at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center to become a Psychiatric Mental-Health Nurse Practitioner. Dulce has received training in assessments, evaluations and treatment for  schizophrenia, bipolar, depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD and substance use disorders. She has served the adult, child and adolescent populations in acute care setting and outpatient setting.  She has also received training in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) in addition to motivational interviewing for substance use disorders. Dulce hopes to help restore the lives of those who have been affected by adverse psychological experiences. 

alejandra mcwilliams, ma
doctoral intern in psychology

Alejandra McWilliams is a doctoral intern in psychology and has received her training in both psychotherapy and psychological assessment. Her testing experience is in administering and interpreting psychological, neuropsychological, and forensic evaluations. She also provides individual, family, and group therapy addressing diverse issues to include anxiety, depression, grief and loss, OCD, and trauma. She has experience in both in-patient and out-patient settings making her more apt to identifying and responding to critical incidents. 

She is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and is trained in EMDR therapy. She is trained in psychological consultation to assist with the diagnosis and treatment planning of dementias and trained as a Paralegal Professional to assist in her specialization in Forensic Psychology. 

Mrs. McWilliams will complete her PsyD in 2021 and looks forward to continuing her training in the El Paso area.

stephanie mitchell, lcsw

Ms. Mitchell has over five years of experience working in a multitude of diverse settings both in- and outpatient; working with Veterans with severe mental illness, substance use disorder, military sexual trauma, and combat related post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Social Skills Training (SST), Skills Training in Affective & Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR), Emotion Focus Tapping (EFT), Problem Solving Skills Training (PST), and Whole Health. 

She is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). She also holds a certification as an Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist (AGCS) and a Compassion Fatigue Professional (CCFP). 

In addition to her counseling experience, she is currently working toward certification as a Clinical Case Manager (CCM) and in EMDR therapy.

Ms. Mitchell has enjoyed providing psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, and families. She specializes in working with adolescents and adults who have experienced trauma, bereavement, moral injury, depression, and concerns with attachment.
